Hi all!
I am planning on cleaning one of my trumpet for the first time. I am using my older one just in case I really screw it up somehow. I was reading something on ww.musichem.com and it said when washing the valves not to get the felts wet. What are the felts? Thanks! |

Hi,
They mean the felt pieces at the top of your valve casings. Also the cork pieces underneath your top valve caps, and usually there are felt circles on those too. They'll deteriorate if you get them wet enough times. They also maintain your vertical valve port alignment and getting them wet will alter their thickness.
