This appears to be some sort of Herb Alpert parody. If you feel bad about your trumpet playing, listen to it and you will feel better:
The Awful Trumpet of Harry Arms
Enjoy!

Ha! The Spanish Flea track is even better.
My favourite is actually Georgy Girl but I had to choose "The Sound of Music" because I am now living in Austria. _________________ Schagerl Sig. James Morrison

The scary thing is they did an entire album and not just one track... _________________ Bryan Fields

This was done in 1968. My older bro and I were big TJB fans, bought each album when it came out and immediately set about playing with it by ear, in parts. I remember all the hype back then about Herb talking about how they created "their sound", big secret and all that. I'm betting this was parody to that, seeing the timeline and all.

Agreed, that definitely sounded like a parody intentionally made to sound awful. Either that or he was another Florence Foster Jenkins.

Ha! Good parody. Takes talent to play that bad! Reminds me of the old album parody of the TJB "Sour Cream and Other Delights" by an all-girl band ("The Frivolous Five") back in the late 60's. That was a bunch of old ladies (back then, to me!)
Good stuff! I needed a good laugh after last night's rehearsal...
The tears were streaming down my face listening to Mrs Miller sing Downtown. She is brilliant! Her versions of The Girl From Ipanema and Hard Days Night are also priceless. _________________ Schagerl Sig. James Morrison
