Hey gang!
One of the things I have been mulling over is putting up some quick informative videos of trumpet technique since I am asked often about things I do to improve my own performing. Here's the first of this new series... let me know what you all think and also if there's something in particular you'd like to discuss please let us know!

Good stuff Trent, keep them coming. I mentioned to Josh previously that it'd be great to have you spend 2-3 minutes on a horn-testing routine. When you pick up a new horn for a few minutes, what do you play?

I will do a video like this today (to launch maybe this weekend).
Here's today's installment of our mini-lesson series... I won't be doing one every day (most likely every few days) but I wanted to share this one today as a few you had some questions about bending and other uses I have for bends in my routine.
As always if you have any questions or comments let us know! So cool videos are already uploaded for this week (and I will be recording more on my day off today for the next few weeks as I'll be busy at trade-shows for a bit).
In the future I will most likely just post to YT so you'll most likely want to subscribe to our YT channel if you want to see more of these.

Thanks for posting these videos Trent. I also checked out some of your horn reviews. Now that I'm living in Austria where they are made, I am very tempted to save up some euros for a Schagerl. I loved the sound you were getting from those inline rotaries - the Ganschhorn and the Raven.

Ask and ye shall receive... a few requests for how I test out horns and what I look for led to this very quick impromptu video. I will devote a full live session via FB next week (once I return from TMEA) to dig into this much more deeply.

Trent,
Well, since you asked....
I have a couple of your CDs, well, 3 at least. On a couple of them you do this "yakity yak" thing with your plunger that I really dig. How do you do that?
Warm regards,

that flugelhorn is deeply disturbing. it would keep me awake nights.
Cha! I love the ‘compactness’ of this flugel. Besides ease of carry, I could play it on gigs and people would be like, “How the heck is he getting that dark, flugel-y sound out of a trumpet?” Yes, sometimes I like to fool people!
Although, that being said, Trent's Manchester Brass Pro flugel is, imo, one of the best flugels ever made. It is very mouthpiece sensitive too. To the point that I usually wear a shotgun shell holster on my belt when playing this axe and I have flugel pieces in it ranging from super shallow to super deep depending on the sound I am wanting to get. I can even stay on flugel when the volume would usually require me going to trumpet with my super shallow flugel piece _________________ Mpcs: Jim New-Manley Jazz1/Jazz2/Jazz4/Lead3. Legends MF1. FYI if anyone on TH is interested we have revived the mini-lesson series now in KC (after a few months of unpacking, logistics, lease nightmares, and stress). We are up to 24 lessons (the 24th launches in a few days). It's my way to give back a bit to all of the fantastic supporters of my shop!
