Until recently, I played the Curry 3C. exclusively for a couple years, but chipped notes on technical passages a bit too often, even when aiming intently at the centers. Really good mp, one of the best in its size/category in my opinion, but it just didn't deliver the immediacy and clarity I want, possibly user error, who knows.
If your chops are fleshy, meaty, grab one, you won't regret it. If they're less fleshy, as are mine, the Curry 3M. might be another one to look into.
His 60O series are very much worth trying as well, 60M and 70M are in the 3 range, interesting backbore. |

I’m currently spending time with a Monette B6LDS1 which I’m REALLY enjoying. However, since I don’t play for any reason but to be cool, I think I’ll buy a Curry 3C to see how it goes. My chops are on the meaty side so thank you for that assist on which version to grab. _________________ My go-to Trumpet and Flugel: Thane.

FWIW, the Curry 3C. rim felt great but a bit big for me (dot or no dot). So much so that I felt I couldn't acclimate. And I was told that the 5C didn't feel like a smaller 3C but more akin to the Bach 5C which I really don't like. So if you like the Bach 3C feel (about the size of a Bach 1.5C/Yamaha 16C4) then the Curry 3C. is a worthy piece to try. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

I've got 10 trumpet mouthpieces, 3 flugelhorn mouthpieces and 1 cornet mouthpiece.
Really, the only trumpet mouthpiece i play is the Curry 3C. It seems to work for everything, jazz or legit.
Warm regards,

BobD was kind enough to sell me his Curry 3C. I’m excited to give it a go. _________________ My go-to Trumpet and Flugel: Thane.

Hope you like it. It fits a lot of people really well (me included) but of course, one size doesn't fit all. Post your impressions of it when you've played it a bit. _________________ "Brass bands are all very well in their place - outdoors and several miles away ." - Sir Thomas Beecham |

Assuming you want to count just trumpet shank pieces: (not flugel, picc, cornet, etc.)
Stuff I actually use regularly:
1. Curry 3C. (Curry Blank)
2. "Reese Piece" (made my Curry, sold by Ken Larson. Go to for almost anything 'legit' now, on Both C and Bb horns)
3. Schilke custom S5/starred cup/T2B rim/28 throat. Expensive to have made, but really works. Go to commercial piece right now.
4. Curry 3TF (In case I don't want to haul a flugel)
Stuff not being used at all currently:
5. Curry 3C. (Bach Blank)
6. Curry 3C. (Curry Blank) Emergency backup, brand new, in case he ever retires.
7. Curry 3C. with 24throat/24backbore that I used to use on C trumpet
8. Curry 3BC. nice, but rarely use it.
9. Curry 60M Was an experiment, prefer his normal rims.
10. Curry 1.5BC. I'm over my 1.5 phase now.
11. Curry 1.5C. (Same as above)
12. Schilke 14A4A Bought it in high school because somebody convinced me I needed one. Didn't like it then, don't like it now.
13. Bach 7c. I think it came with something. Never used it.
14. Curry 3M. w/Blackjack Blank Coolest looking piece I own, but that's not enough reason to use it.
15. Bach 5B. Used it all through jr. high and high school, back when I was convinced one mouthpiece was enough for everything.
16. Curry 3* Cool piece, but no longer used.
Don't really ever sell them, since... well, I don't like dealing with micro-transactions online for a few bucks. Looks like I should own stock in Curry, luckily his gear is very affordably priced.
If I had to pick just one, I suppose it would have to be the stock Curry 3C, but I'd much prefer to have 1-3 above if I could widen it out slightly. _________________ "Music is like candy, you throw the (w)rappers away." |

Okay...the used Curry 3C has arrived and I’ve been fiddling with it for a few days. I’ll write more later when I logged more time on it but I will admit....it’s REALLY nice. I do prefer my Monette as of right now but for the price, the Curry is awfully close. _________________ My go-to Trumpet and Flugel: Thane.

Is it a 3C, or a 3C. ? The 3C. is the more modern version. The older 3C (with no dot) is the older, larger version. _________________ "Brass bands are all very well in their place - outdoors and several miles away ." - Sir Thomas Beecham |

I have around 150 at present. The keeper at this point in time (usually changes monthly) is the JetTone BC, but there is a Northern Brass by GR at a close second. |

Uh oh, we've created another Curry fan!
I have a 3C, 3B, 3M, and 3BBC, all "dot" models. Used to have a 3Z but it was just too shallow for me. _________________ "Brass bands are all very well in their place - outdoors and several miles away ." - Sir Thomas Beecham |

Yeah, I think so. I just purchased a Curry FLD for my flugel to replace my old Yamaha mp. I did buy it in gold plate since it just looks cooler. _________________ My go-to Trumpet and Flugel: Thane.
