People ain't bidding probably because it looks like crap. Makes you wonder how they bent the #3 slide finger ring like that. Looks like w.key has recently been resoldered. Also looks like to me that the bell has been removed. Wonder what hidden damage there is elsewhere.
I've noticed this particular dealer doesn't disclose much in his description. My word of advice - study the pics closely and be sure to ask questions before bidding. |

I believe that this is the same outfit that ended the auction on a Martin Committee early because a TH buyer aproached him off ebay and convinced him to ignore the other bidders and the ebay contract and sell off ebay. There was a lengthy and spirited discussion about this and both the seller and ebay was notified of the impropriety.
Of course my hope would be that because many of the knowledgeable buyers of high end horns frequent this site, his potential market has been reduced because some won't do business with folks who mess around and ignore the good faith of bidders and sellers alike. Justice perhaps. Meanwhile, as there were bidders on the Martin, I suspect that had he let that auction go, the price would have gone higher than the price he settled on. Also, he would have had a feedback instead of ZERO.
More about this seller and his previous ebay activity see this thread. Pay particular attention to the response of the Parker Music employee and the member who bought the horn. An interesting slant on business ethics is displayed by all involved.

Good luck to him.

This is the second time this trumpet was listed. He didn't get any bids with an opening bid of $1195 last time.

This horn has been ridden hard and put away wet, mostly the latter. There is what appears to be red rot on the leadpipe and elsewhere which by now probably had developed pinhole leaks. The valve cases (and the leadipe) is sufficiently pitted that it would have the buffed considerably, thinning the metal. This horn may be salvageable, but I wouldn't care to guess how it would sound after, or how long it would last. Not worth the effort. |
