Martin Committe sound, and quality.

Does the new commitee T3460 have the same sound like the old Martin Committe. Wich one is darker and mellow and in tune. And what about the quality. Also the difference between bore 2 and 3 on sound and playing. thks stef.

I've owned several newer Martins as well as several vintage ones. The new ones aren't bad horns, but they're not like the old ones. I'm not saying that's bad either; I think the old ones tend to be overhyped.

The only way you'll know which horn you prefer is to try them both. Personally, I wouldn't buy either.

TL6L-1

The Lawler TL6L-1 is a very open blowing trumpet. If you want a full sound very much like the the old Martin Committee large bore this is it. Its square bends and reverse main slide coupled with the #1 taper leadpipe give you great intonation with very fluid slurs. The bell is a full 5 inch rim made in yellow brass. .460 and .464 bore available.

Yes the TL6L-1 is a good substitute for a Martin Committee but not as good as the Lawler Committee. That is a superb horn!

A Calicchio with the 3 bell could be a possibility since Dominic Calicchio had a part in designing the Committee bell and the 3 bell is his copy.

Then #2 bore was the medium bore and a #3 bore is the large bore.

Thks for your answer, that true the LAwker committee look great.

About the bore, i know 2 is medium and 3 large, but i don't know if make a diffrence on tone, sound. Today i play large one '460 and never played small, so i don't know. And old model on Ebay are usualy medium.

I have owned a T3465 as well as 2 older commmittees from the 60's. They are very different. The old ones were much nicer to play with a very focused sound. the new one was much less focussed in sound, and very hard to play in tune. It also was not very well made. I would not bother with the new batch. You would be heaps beeter of with a lawler, or other committee type yamahas and schilkes.

i think that all that connects the new Martins made by Leblanc with the old vintage ones is the name. i had one and it sounded VERY average. besides the craftsmanship of these horns leaves a lot to be desired. kind of a rip-off, if you want me to take the gloves off for a moment.

i have never played any of roy lawler's horns but they seem to garner critical acclaim. for a relatively affordable price, i think you're probably getting some amazing handmade craftsmanship...

can't wait to get my hands on one of those Lawler committees
