Hello to all,

I have a Kanstul made Besson MEHA in Bb with a very low serial number. The serial number is 488. I have written Kanstul a couple of times and I have never heard back so I was wondering if anyone here might have a clue. Other possible clues. On the bell in a scroll under the FB script is written "systeme prototype." The words Paris-France are separated with a hyphen, not blank or a star. On the second valve casing under the serial number is an oval with F.Besson on the top, then a star and Z. Kanstul under that. Am I leaving out any other possible clues?

I really love this trumpet but the curiosity has gotten the better of me.

Thanks in advance,
Kurt

I thought that was probably the case with the bore size although mine has a hyphen between them. I am more curious about the date of manufacture with the serial number of 488 and the scroll with "systeme prototype" on the bell. From what I have read they usually have a four digit serial number, not three. There also seems to be some mystery around the prototype engraving.
Thanks!

Give Kanstul a call. They gave me info about my Kanstul Besson Meha over the phone.

They don't take phone calls. USPS is probably not the best way. Check out website

Not sure why you would think they don't answer the phone but they did answer within a couple rings when I called the number on their website. The girl who answered the phone wrote down the serial number from my horn, put me on hold for about 3 minutes then came back on and told me the year it was made, what the bore was and what the finish the horn was.

I have sent a few emails to them and not just about the trumpet background but also about a mouthpiece they make. I have never had a reply yet. I got hold of someone on Facebook but they gave me an email which was also not answered. I get it that they are not sitting around waiting to answer emails and I am not irritated. I am just saying that I still don't have answer to my original questions, especially about the scroll on the bell. I have been hesitant to call since it seems like an intrusion on their time for such a mundane non business type question. I will try calling later in the week.

I contacted them about two weeks ago, and got a reply, (from jim and sales) but the last email I got from sales said their email client wasn't working properly, and sometimes would not send emails. It's possible that's what's going on.

Hope they get it sorted because I want to purchase some parts

I've had no problems talking to people at Kanstul in the past. My only "gripe" is they didn't thank me for doing business with them. That and no tracking number on my shipment.
Hey, EurekaDude...take your horn to the mausoleum at Sunset Memorial someday; sounds really awesome.

I hope you got the info from Kanstul in the end... I know it's been a few years but just in case you're still wondering: my 4 digit serial number Kanstul made Meha also has "Systeme prototype" engraved in a banner on the bell, so I imagine it's present on all the horns.[/list]
