Just was wondering if any thought was ever given to "Certifying Instructors" in the Bill Adam Approach to Trumpet Playing?
just thinking out loud.

Nope.
If a teacher actually studied with Adam extensively or with one of his students, and that teacher has success in her own right, that's it.
Since there is no Adam "method," what would you certify and what would you examine to award such a thing? _________________ Bach trumpet artist-clinician

Agreed, being an outsider looking in, and since Mr Adams' "methods" have made it easier for me to play, and having never studied with an actual adams' student , it was really just a pondering question. Maybe i'm just annoyed i didn't get to study with him and be able to share his actual thoughts.
very kind regards !!

There are several "qualified" Adam students in NYC. _________________ Bill Bergren |

Have any of his students truly attained his sound, or even exceeded his tone? These are the names if any, I want to study with. I'm talking about the type of resonant energized sound that legend has used move shutters at Mr. Adams house, if this was indeed true.
Is this somewhat tricky because Mr. Adam was mirroring student's embouchure flaws?
I too wish I got to hear mr. Adam play and emulate his sound. |

His sound was different and adapted for every single student in every lesson. This is one of the main things none of his students has mastered to the same degree. _________________ Bach trumpet artist-clinician

This is the essence of Mr. Adam's teaching. It is a real balancing act to give the student enough to progress without choking him.
With my less experienced students the sound I demonstrate for them is a more generic sound. With the more experienced students or those with a pronounced specific problem I alter my sound to accentuate what I hear is missing.
Sometimes I must go to the student's sound and lead them little by little to the desired result.
It's different for every student and every lesson. _________________ Bill Bergren |
