Great actor. Hard worker. Brutally handsome man. But his looks weren't all he had. The man could act.
His father a respected sheriff in Florida. Burt Jr took up football and was a heck of a college running back until knee injury forced him into acting. We're all glad he chose that career.
The movies just won't seem the same. His best film? Probably "Deliverance". I'm just working off my memory here. Sad thing. But a full life.

His death is indicative of more passing of the old guard. Personally, and I don't wish to offend, most of his movies stunk. I just can't relate to the B grade Smokey and the Bandit thing.
But Deliverance was a milestone, and Boogie Nights was great commentary on the tasteless pretence of the porn industry. He had some tough times with Loni Anderson apparently.

Agreed on the passing of the old guard. Sure is hard getting old...oh not me personally though! |
