Here's hopin' there's some west coast love. I'm suffering some serious Gansch withdrawal. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

I don't believe they have been to the West Coast since October 2015 so you guys are due. If you've flown from Vienna to Boston it isn't that huge of a deal to catch another flight on to LAX, huh? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! |

Thomas has posted that the US is is really really big and that it's not so easy for them to get to all of it any given tour.
I've seen two of the three California performances that I've known about. They overflowed the small UCLA hall one year and didn't quite sell out the larger Citrus college hall but neither of these performances had hardly any marketing. Even the respective box offices wouldn't acknowledge the concerts until very very close to the performance dates making it nearly impossible to coordinate with other potential concertgoers who would have gladly traveled to attend.
Given the enormous affection LA's best players have for Mnozil I wish that more of them would help get the word out and help sell out a suitably large venue worthy or their awesome talent. Seeing them turns me into a giddy fanboy which is no small thing seeing as I'm closing in on 60. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

Likewise Charles...... on the giddy fanboy stuff. I'm 55 and have never before felt the urge to follow a performer about night after night. They do tend to return to areas where they have proven popular fairly regularly though. The University of Maine for one instance. Eastern Pennsylvania for another.
Mnozil came through the Carolinas in March near where I live and with the exception of their performance at Clemson University, the venues in Lenoir and Charlotte, NC were woefully undersold....... like maybe 300 spectators in a 1000 seat hall in Charlotte.
The 900-seat hall at Clemson was nearly full BUT only because Clemson students are granted free admission first-come, first-served to an event that isn't sold out 30 minutes before show-time.

DO NOT MISS THIS!!! Also, do NOT assume you understand what they are about if you have just checked out youtube clips (directed at current generation of viewers/listeners who think that Spotifying something on iPhone speakers entitles you to an opinion)...this is the GREATEST BRASS CHAMBER SHOW ON THE PLANET and you simply will never understand that until you see them in person...they are magical.

PS...I love superlatives so go ahead and try flaming away...this is the kind of debate I LOVE to get into!!! |

Will this be a new show, or is this still going to be the "Circus" show they played in NJ & NYC this year? Thanks. _________________ Yamaha 8310Z trumpet

So if you won't take it from me, an overweight twenty-five years removed from service Army trumpet player, Do take Jens Lindemann's word for it. If you have liked Mnozil Brass on Youtube, you will love them live. Don't miss the opportunity.
Again and again people in ensembles that I play with have seen them and the reaction has universally been one of "If I had realized they were THIS incredible I would have made a greater effort to hear them sooner......"
They aren't getting any younger. Californians, if they don't include you this time, you might want to consider a road trip. They have airports in New England.
Turkle - It appears that on the February visit they will still be performing 'Cirque'. The venue links refer to that show and there has not been word from Mnozil about preparing a new show. I would imagine that they will be soon though as they will have been doing 'Cirque' for two years by the time they return. |

It doesn’t matter if it’s a different show or the same show… Seeing them live multiple times only enhances one’s appreciation for their genius. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, what the Canadian Brass started 50 years ago these guys have taken to a whole new level. Although it has universal appeal and everybody loves what they do, It is especially critical for brass players to see this show. Their success did not come overnight and there is no quick clever formula for new groups starting out who think they can do the same thing. Mnozil is a philosophy of playing and living and it is that combination that transcends the mere stereotype of calling them “just another brass group “. ( fortunately I just made that quote up and have not actually found somebody foolish enough to say it… But I dare you to try)

Single Event Tickets for the General Public to see Mnozil Brass perform 'Cirque' at the Zoellner Arts Center in Bethlehem, PA February 16, 2019 (8pm) are now on sale. Mnozil has played this venue twice before and is popular in this part of the US. This show will likely be a sellout. Make plans to go if you can. It is a Saturday night after all!
