Does anyone on the forum know which drill bit sizes (fractions of inches) correspond to two digit throat designations? Which bit size equals a 26 and which is a 25?
Thanks. |

25 and 26 are drill bit gauge sizes, corresponding to 3.797 mm and 3.734 mm respectively. If you want to convert to other more quaint measurement systems, you're on your own. _________________ '75 Bach Strad 180ML/37

The drill set used is called a wire gauge drill set.
In the USA there are 3 main drill bit sets. Fractional, Letter, and Wire gauge.
Really, a wire gauge reamer should be used to ensure that the size is accurate. Drill bits are not terribly accurate, and if you need a hole to be perfectly accurate it is expected that you drill it and then ream to final dimension. _________________ www.divitt-trumpets.com
