Hi all,
I remember hearing this idea as a teaching point (not to literally waste air, like letting it leak out your corners, but, rather, to release air freely in a way that might feel like it's being wasted, rather than trying to tensely conserve it), and thought that it came from Cichowicz, but I can't find anything to back that up.
Does anyone recognize the instruction to "waste the air!", and can help shed light on its source? Thanks!
After Sam Pilafian had worked with the group for quite some time, Jose Sibaja commented at 27:36, “Waste your air”. I looked up Jose and he studied at the New World School of the Arts and University of Miami. One of his teachers at NWSA had studied at the University of Miami with Gil Johnson and Craig Morris. Gil Johnson studied with Sigmund Hering and Samuel Krauss. Craig Morris studied with a number of teachers including: Raymond Crisara, Glenn Fischthal, and Don Jacoby. Maybe your answer is in there somewhere! Good luck. _________________ Derek Reaban
