Just wondering if anyone on TH has any experience with these
I bought one at a pretty good price on fleaBay on a whim. I'm playing a Curry 3C as my main, or rather, my only piece right now. |

Well then, let me be the first.
So the piece arrived today, and it out 3C's my 3C. I mean, it's got a more rich, dark tone to it and it's very comfortable. Quite apart from what others usually call me, I'm gonna call myself a Schilke convert. |

Is it deeper than a Curry 3C? How about sound wise?
I tried a Schilke 13C4 a while back but the V shape really threw me off. _________________ 1981 Bb Bach Stradivarius 37/25 ML raw - Laskey 60C

It appears to be approx the same depth as my own Curry 3C, which I've been using for the past few months. The Curry is a great piece and suits me fine, but the Schilke offers - for me - more comfort, and a somewhat more rich tone. By rich I mean more depth, less bright. That's as good a description of the tone as I can do.
Re size specs - 16.8 mm cup, 27mm throat. Semi flat rim, which is probably why it feels nice on my lips.
It doesn't appear to be V cut to my eyes. Hopefully I've helped. |

The usefulness of a mouthpiece is judged in weeks, more probably months, one day says nothing. |

I didn't know this was a thing. (I operated the mouthpiece lathe in the dark ages of the early '70's) Sounds like it might be in the same ballpark as the Yamaha Hagstrom.
13D4 16.89 .665 27 New ā Best option for a player looking for a thick, rich, weighted sound. Medium large āDā cup offers a tone that is colorful with depth. #4 semi-flat rim affords comfort with sharper bite for superior articulation clarity. Diameter ideal for all players from student to professional. |

By "in the same ballpark" do you just mean the diameter? Because something similar to the Yamaha Hagstrom with a comfortable rim sounds very interesting.
Can anyone attest to how deep the cup is exactly? Like Bach 3C deep, Bach 1.25C deep, or Bach 5B deep? _________________ 1981 Bb Bach Stradivarius 37/25 ML raw - Laskey 60C

The Yamaha Hagstrom is smaller in diameter than a Bach 7C. It has a rather deep cup though. The Schilke sounds like it is a much larger diameter than the Hagstrom. |

I was guessing. A Bach 5B might be a closer comparison. Gerard Schwartz played one of those back in the day as 1st trumpet NYP. I heard him give a scary good recital at the Trumpet Symposium in Denver, 1972. |

Yeah maybe that's true, but first impressions tell me the Schilke piece is damn fine. And now that I've had for longer than a day, it yet remains the damn fine piece. |

Yea, sometimes that happens, it's great from the getgo and your first impression is right. That's how it was for me when I got my first Stork, the Vacchiano 4C26B. _________________ 1981 Bb Bach Stradivarius 37/25 ML raw - Laskey 60C
