In the Bach mouthpiece manual, it says this about the 57 trumpet backbore: "lively, helps raise pitch on some notes, good high register"
I've always wondered what he meant by "helps raise pitch on some notes." Is he referring to the whole high register, low register, or actual specific pitches? Anyone have a clue? _________________ The name I go by in the real world is Joe Lewis |

The only thing I've heard about the 57 backbore is that it's meant for rotary trumpets and doesn't work so well on pistons. _________________ 1981 Bb Bach Stradivarius 37/25 ML raw - Laskey 60C

IIRC it's a smaller version of the 87 (parabolic) backbore? (I could well be misremembering, it's been a while!)
I played one briefly some years back and didn't dislike it, don't recall anything being overly squiffy (but as I say, it's been a while!) |
