Hello,
I thought I would introduce something that I have been working on for a while.
It's a Martin Database that I compiled of a lot of information I have accumulated and photographs that I have personally taken.
This is not a History of the Martin Band Instruments - but is more a nod to the horns and the designs.
In itself I think it probably represents the most detailed guide you will find on the horns to date. (Some of the other information - Trumpetgear Wordpress for example) is information I have posted in the past - and some of it is incorrect.
I have included high quality images of around 30-35 models that I have owned/collected over the past 10+ years as well as reference materials and some rare information.
Everything is broken down into 16 individual sections.
My hope is that it will be shared and referred to.
It's a living group of information that will be updated over time as I receive more horns and information.
Be sure to check out the topic about condition also - I think it might make for some interesting discussion.
You can view it here:

Thanks, it's a starting point.
I will be gradually adding to it. I have a few documents to upload as well as at least 3-5 unique instruments to add which are currently in repairs. (Very early Large Bore, IBICO models, Nickel Bell Handcraft Imperial and a transitional Dasant Trumpet). _________________ Martins:

Very nice resource.
In regards to bore sizes for Committes and HC Committees, you have the #1 small bore listed at .455, and #2 bores at .451-.453.
I am assuming this is a typo. If not, it is VERY interesting that the #1 bore would be larger than a #2 bore. _________________ -Chris |

Hi Chris, it's a typo - should be .445 - thanks for letting me know. Off to correct it now. _________________ Martins:

Did quite a few tweaks on the site back in April and forgot to update this thread.
Here's a quick update:
Completely new look to the site - plus......
New horn images added (But I forgot to add the Martin Committee Deluxe C Trumpet)
- Early Union Label Large Bore
- Transitional HC Dansant/Imperial
- Early Troubadour Cornet
- Handcraft Standard Cornet (US Model)
New Mouthpieces added (Handcraft era)
New super rare Handcraft Brochure images added (only one I have seen)

Would be interested to know of any other Handcraft Troubador Cornets that might exist out in trumpetland. Also, has anyone else seem examples of the Dansant branded Handcraft Imperial? (I've seen two or three change hands) _________________ Martins:

Great resource. I sent you pictures of my Martin Committee Flugelhorn. Don't know if you received them. _________________ Anthony Memoli |

Very interesting Web site, thank you for compiling all the info. It's very difficult to research some of the old brands as most of the info has disappeared over the years.
In our shop we have a magazine ad hanging on the wall from the 50's for the Committee trumpet. It has pictures of many greats; Miles, Dizzy, etc. But there's a picture of Claude Gordon as well!
Claude used to tell a funny story about playing a Martin and seeing the bell coming closer to his face as he was doing some hard-charging type of passage. When he stopped, he saw that the braces had broken and leadpipe was bending! _________________ "Strive for tone." -John Coppola

Thank you for the images. I did receive them. You're right that this was siting in a closet - that's one of the nicest examples I have seen. It's for sure from the RMC Wurlitzer era - I have a 1963 catalog and it has this model in it. Guessing it's a large bore with the X stamping. _________________ Martins:

Thanks for checking out the site. I'll keep adding as I collate more info and horns over time. Lately it's been really hard to find old brochures and advertising. I missed on two great gems over the years I'd wish I'd paid up for - an original 1920's Martin dealers catalog and a handpainted Martin Handcraft shop sign.
Great story about CG - I can totally see that happening with the lightweight bracing of the Committee. He probably vibrated it to pieces _________________ Martins:

It would seem that several people have been looking at the website recently (I am guessing thanks to this thread and the updates) as I am getting several questions around horns etc.
This is great!
Happy to help with any questions where I can - identifying old horns you might have inherited, wondered about or just plain curious.
A few questions about accessories also.
It costs nothing to ask a question - It might take me a few days to get back to people - but I usually answer any queries. _________________ Martins:
