I would easily say no. I've purchased a cornet from these guys before. It had been refinished & only an ok job at that. It did not play all that great for what I paid for it. But a "Special" definitely isn't worth this much in my opinion. _________________ Bb - Yamaha Xeno 8335RGS

If you are really trying to evaluate the economics of it, I would just consider what the unfinished horn is really worth on these Alaska Brass deals and go from there.
Not long ago, someone posted some beautiful pictures of an Olds Ambassador that had been redone at the Kanstul shop. That was an appealing treatment of a vintage horn if you are looking for an alternative to the Alaska style redo.
