I was listening to the attached Tuba Skinny concert. When each player soloed, I kept thinking I would have done it differently. Then I wondered which in that context would have been better. Answer?

I listen to TS often. I note when they are pushing the envelope a bit and this is one of those times. Elsewhere in TH there is a thread about learning to improvise by practicing licks in all keys. The thing that bugs me about that is that when the time comes, out comes licks. Pushing the envelope? No. Invention? No.

Have a listen and think about what you would do in those moments.

I guess I'm a little foggy today, but I just don't understand what your issue is.

I don't have an issue. This is about learning and thinking. I'm still doing it and I'm hoping others are too. These are really good players. I'm asking people to listen and think. How would you approach each solo? When I listen to music, I sing what I would do in my head. Sometimes the player does what I sang, most times they don't. Comparing the two teaches me something.
