This upcoming marching season I’m going to be drum major. Anything I should know? Any tips to have a successful season? |

Lead by example - show that you are willing to do hard work for success.
Recognize that everyone has their own limitations, but that they are expected to always strive to do their best. If there are 'problems' don't hesitate to discuss them with the band director - you are not in a position (or expected) to handle everything.

KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'. |

Enjoy yourself.
Also one thing that helped my son when he was drum major was getting coaching from another classmate’s father that was a former state champion drum major. |
