Just watched this last night (included on Amazon Prime). It's from 1989 and features Ted Danson. One of the minor aspects of his character is that he plays trumpet (very occasionally). Near the end there is a gorgeous trumpet solo that goes on for a full two minutes. No high notes, no blinding technique, just a simple, flowing melody that is beautifully played.

My first thought was Warren Leuning, since I had seen him play a similar piece in a studio session. But I know this could be any of dozens of LA studio players. Anybody have the scoop on this?

No need to watch the whole movie - the solo starts about 1:34:50 and goes to 1:37:22. (Disregard the shots of Danson, where his finger movements seem to be unrelated to what's coming out of the horn.)

Thanks for the reminder. I recall enjoying that movie when it came out. I even remember that trumpet solo making quite an impression all those years ago.
