Hi again
As you already have red in the title, I am looking for a mouthpiece that is similar to the Yamaha Bobby Shew Lead but deeper, keeping roughly the same rim, alpha angle and the same tight backbore BUT deeper, for allround playing porpoises. Do you have anything in mind, except custom work?
Many blessings
Horatiu

I thought about these, but they all share a slightly more open backbore than the shew 1 and shew 1.25. That's what I was told from Marcinkiewicz in an email.

While emailing them, did you ask if they'd do them with the tighter backbore as a custom order?

You can spend HUNDREDS trying pieces "like X" or "like Y but Z"... sometimes a custom order that's exactly what you want can save you money that you would've spent trying to find something off the shelf that's close enough to keep you happy.

That may be true. Not shure if it's all I need...maybe it will just not work for me... so ordering an expensive custom mouthpiece won't be justified

Not the same backbore, nor inside diameter

hello botahoratiu.

all my mpcs are custom from Marcinkiewicz, my lead mpc is based on Ingram model which has the same throat & bb than Shew 1 & 1.25.
I have mpcs based on Shew 1.5 & 2, that always played with more resistance than my lead one...
i asked Marcinkiewicz and in fact, Shew 1 & 1.25 have a graduated C bb, while 1.5, 1.75 & 2 are Graduated B standard bb.
Note that i never felt good for my deeper pieces with the standard bb, so i had made them with a symphonic bb, and #26 throat (and 24 for another one, and 18 for cornet...)

the graduated C bb shape gives more free blowing, so i asked Marcink to alterate my custom pieces based on Shew 1.5 & 2, giving them this graduate C bb.
Know also that they played way better for me when a pro friend of mine opened the bottom & mid bb.

best
