No comment on the trumpet. But I love your tagline. "Have Tuba - Will Travel"
It is always good to have tubist who is willing to leave when told to do so. |

So this girl gets onto the California Zephyr train carrying a violin. I say we could start a band since I have a trumpet with me. Then the guy in the seat in front of me pops up and says he has his trombone.
It turns out he is actually a tuba player and a student and good friend of my BIL. Small world. |

The JP trumpets aren't bad for the money. They are made in China, but to strict designs. Some models have a Smith-Watkins lead pipe, and Packers recently announced that Andy Taylor is also having an input into a new range.
I have a JP C trumpet and am very pleased with it. I only play around on it, as I don't have a need for a C trumpet. _________________ "Nearly as good as I need to be. Not nearly as good as I want to be".

I think it's meant to be a humorous response, the 😉 is a clue.

I played the JP251SW (https://www.jpmusicalinstruments.com/prod/john-packer-jp251-sw) and the JP351SWLT (https://www.jpmusicalinstruments.com/prod/john-packer-jp351swlt) side by side in a local music shop, and liked the JP251SW much better for my setup. Both of these models have Smith-Watkins designed leadpipes. I liked the JP251SW so much, I bought one in the gold frosted finish as a backup horn, and actually play it more often than I anticipated. The price I paid was VERY good since the store I deal with is able to drive to the U.S. John Packer Distribution Warehouse and pick them up.
I was surprised at how open the JP251SW plays, being a ML bore horn, and how in tune it is with itself. I don't have to kick the third slide out for low D even when playing with an ensemble. I've had no problem blending with a section made up mostly of Bach Strads in our Concert Band, and it works well in pretty much every genre of music I've played with it so far (Concert Band, Big Band, Worship Orchestra, and High Energy Church Music).
The JP351SWLT is a L bore horn, and was a little too open for me these days. I have not had an opportunity to play the JP351SWHW, which is a heavier weight horn with a ML bore.
I have also owned a JP by Taylor trumpet, which is a fantastic horn with many Andy Taylor design elements, as well as a Taylor leadpipe. I gave the JP by Taylor to a missionary friend overseas who needed a new horn very badly, and his sound on this horn is pure magic. I lent it to him to play while he was in in the states visiting his support churches, and knew it was his horn the second he started playing it. Just FYI, the JP by Taylor is a heavy horn.
While the JP251SW is considered an intermediate trumpet, I would still recommend giving it a try side by side with the JP351SWLT if possible...I say that because a local pro also chose the JP251SW over the JP351SWLT as a better all around horn.[/url] _________________ Best Regards,
