Hi Jim,
Nice recording and very nice tone. The possibility of a beautiful trumpet sound like this is the reason I play trumpet myself. Nowhere near as accomplished as you, of course. Well executed, nice phrasing. You make the etudes a joy to listen to.
Thanks. _________________ Bb: Schilke X3L AS, Yamaha YTR-6335S

Wow! Really nice playing! Thanks for sharing those videos.
I wasn't aware Phil Collins had a book of performance etudes. Is that new? His Trumpetudes, Classic Style and Pops Orchestra books are terrific. |

I saw these etudes on Mr. Collins' Facebook page! I also happen to have made a recording of myself playing #67 to send to a friend the other day.
I will NOT be sharing it here after your flawless performance!
Bravo, cheers, and stay safe out there - or in there, as the case may be. _________________ Yamaha 8310Z trumpet

What is the name of the book of etudes? I saw something about "In the Singing Style." Is that it? _________________ Bb: Schilke X3L AS, Yamaha YTR-6335S

While that is an excellent book, these are brand new. I don’t think he’s actually finished writing them. _________________ Jim Wilt

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone!
Today's installment of "From the Safety of My Practice Room", another great etude from Phil Collins - Etude 1, "Concert Aria".
Today was a bit of a bummer - the first take was almost perfect, and then I discovered the audio recorder was setup for remote teaching, not recording. :-/ This was the second take - there's a chip in there, and I got sharp at the end, but it is what it is.

You are such a great artist! Thank you for letting us listen to your beautiful playing!
Forgive me for asking, but is there any chance you could play something on Bb? _________________ Craig Mitchell |

What kind of mic are you using? How are the acoustics in that room you're practicing in? Just curious! |
