Anyone familiar with this musician

Way back in the early/mid 70's I worked with a band that was primarily a Portuguese band. We did a lot of weddings and parties and played the usual pop stuff, Chicago, BS&T etc.
We played quite a bit traditional Portuguese music in addition to the pop/standard stuff. I grew up with Irish and Italian grandparents.
We got hired to play an event at a Portuguese Church Hall. There was going to be a concert by a famous performer from Brazil and we were going to play for dancing after the show.
The performer's name was Nelson Ned and he was really popular in Portuguese communities. He happened to be a dwarf and was not even 4 ft tall. Man when he hit the stage you would have thought Mick Jagger was on stage. The girls in the audience were screaming like the audience did when The Beatles played Shea Stadium. He was really good and kind of resembled a short version of Tom Jones. Anyone ever heard him. He passed away a couple of years back.
I was a senior in high school and knew a very beautiful Portuguese girl who happened to be there. I had worked for a time at a store in the local mall and she worked in a coffee place.Her father was really strict and wouldn't let her date anyone not Portuguese. I really liked her and asked her out a few times but she couldn't go out with me. She asked me to get her an autograph which I happily did. I thought that would get me a date with her but no dice.
A few years ago I had my dna analyzed and it turns out I have a small amount of Portuguese blood in my past!!!!!!
