Hi, I am looking for a top mounted "stop-rod" for my New Revelation horn.

If it makes any difference, the serial number is 94xxx, dating the horn to 1927. Info on the Holton trumpet PDF, lists it as being part of the Revised Second Generation family of horns.

Any suggestions as to who I should contact, or where I should look would be appreciated.

Regards Tom

Hi Tom,

if you have no luck I may have to make you one copying from my Llewellen.

Regards, Stuart.

Trashed revelations pop up every so often on EBay, but most of those parts are usually missing (It can be annoying when intact unless everything on the horn is still strait and true)

What parts of the assembly are missing? Here is what I think of as a parts list:
- Bell brace with threaded port
- Tuning slide block and clamp
- Screw for the clamp
- Threaded rod with ball end
- Securing nut for threaded rod
- Tube structure with one end closed but bored for threaded rod

Some of these can be fabricated. You can use readily available threaded rod & nut (or a larger rod and re thread the brace) and put a blob of solder at the end. Screws for the clamp are easy to find. The tube is a tricky one, but a good tech could make something for you. If the brace or the block/clamp are missing, a donor horn will take time to find.

To OldSchoolEuph and Stumac, many thanks for your replys. I suspect judging form OSE's questions I am missing virtually the complete assembly. I have only seen one complete Holton from this period, that was Stumac's Llewellen and even that was a while ago.
When I bought the horn it was essentially a "basket case", the only positive being the valves were in good condition. It is a credit to Ozwinds here in Melbourne, that the Holton is now in a presentable condition.
Stuart, I may have to place myself at your mercy.
Regards Tom
