Hello! This is my first actual post on the forum!

I’m a beginner trumpet player, but my father has been playing for over 30 years. He gave me a tip about Dominic Speras ”Blues and the Basics” from the Jazz improvisation series.

It came with a book and cassette tape. But he can only find the cassette tape.

I’m wondering if someone here might know if it is still possible to get the book, or book and tape, somewhere? I’ve tried to find it on the internet and asked in musicstores here in Sweden aswell but it seems hard to come by!

Thanks in advance

Fredrik

I know the book and cassette because I've owned them. But I don't know their source today, sorry. He has a web site but I don't know how current it is, but you might be able to contact him through it.

By the way, if you've got the recorded background, you're half the way home. You can make up any melody to go with it and your dad should be able to show you the basics of improvisation. The only thing left is for you to practice.

I had this book when I was in elementary school in the 80's. I still have it.... somewhere. I'm not sure were the cassette is, but I probably have it as well. Really pretty solid book. Dominic Spera taught at a nearby college, too.

Anyway, this might help you out....

I don't think it's been in print for quite a while, so used is probably the only way to get it.
