|
|
Hey Guys,
I am working to get a teaching credential in California and to past the CSET in music I need to play parts of the first movement of the Haydn. But they want a version I have never heard of and I cannot get a hard copy in time for when I have to submit a video.
It is the Billaudot edition, part of the Maurice Andre editions of concertos.
If anyone has this version could you tell me what music is in the first movement for rehearsal #5 through #10 and rehearsal #11 through two bars after #13.
I only have the International Music Company version and the Edward H. Tarr version.
Thanks! |

That's crazy that you have to play to get licensed, especially something the level of the Haydn. _________________ --Matt--

Not to mention a rather obscure edition. _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet

Agree guys! I just called some friends around town to see if they have this version and they all said "you have to play what to get a credential!" I don't mind playing the the piece, I have done it a few times already, I just want to know what notes they want and don't.
Thanks! |

Looks like you're not the first:

Is it possible for you to call an audition official, explain to them your problem and ask if you can use your version a a substitute? This seems needleslly pedantic to me. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

I just got off the phone with the California CSET test people and they could not help with the only advise is to follow what the packet says. (Which is the issue) But they did start a cast study.
Frustrating times! Thank you for your help guys! |

The answer you seek is in my response above:
Rehearsal #5 on the Billaudot Edition is the trumpet entrance at the beginning. Rehearsal #11- #13 is the start of the development section to the high concert Db. |

Is there any reason why there are two different editions of Haydn listed with two different excerpts? It looks like you can swap out the high note for the second movement. |
