Hi All !!
I'm planning to send a CD for a solo competition here in Brazil.
This competition is organized by Weril (a brazilian brass instrument maker) and the finalists can play only with Weril Instruments.
They have good C and Bb trumpet, but instruments in another key (Eb/D, for example) are terribles ! Haydn, Hummel, Mozart Trumpet Concerto, etc can't be played !
Another thing, is that I have to record 2 musics: One of my choice and another from a Brazilian composer...and the total time can't be more than 15 min (bye, bye, Aratunian:-) ).
Please, can you give some music suggestions ?
Obs: Finalists from another years played musics like: Aratunian, Otto Ketting' Intrada, Goedick' Concert Etude.
Thanks and have a nice day |

I played on one of the Weril (Bb) cornets a while back. It really wasn't a bad horn by any means. I think it'd be quite funny for a finalist to come off stage, after hacking through the Haydn, put their assigned Eb trumpet on the table, and simply say "This horn is a piece of crap."
As for some music, as you mentioned, Goedicke's "Concert Etude" is a good piece. Some others you might want to try are Turrin's "Caprice", or Bohme's "Concerto in f minor". _________________ Chris King

Bozza - Rustique is a nice piece and not so easy as you might think! |
