Hi guys,
as you can see by my post count I am a newbie. A hopeful comeback player/hack that's been enjoying playing his son's Yamaha 6335 when I get the chance. Well I'm a vintage guy with many things (Alfa's, furniture, architecture etc.) Anyway, I've recently bought a couple of vintage horns to try that I've always wanted. One is a 40's Olds that comes with a gig bag. As I am not travelling with my horns other than if I move house... I would like to try and get a period correct case. Not fussed if it shows a lot of 'love' from use but something that suits the patina of the horn.

Something like ths lifton case for a recording is probably right? I guess many people have thrown them out over the years as they get musty. I know I did...

When I had vintage horns, I liked the tweed cases.Usually bought a cheap vintage horn with a case from shopgoodwill.com. Then sold the trumpet for parts.
What vintage horns do you have?

One is a '62 Connstellation 38B (original case) and the other is an Olds that I will report back on once I get it in my hands!
I'll look into the tweed cases. There is also the difference in how they sit in the case, such as vertical or laying down. I guess as long as they are a snug fit is shouldn't really matter?

Thanks @Oncewasaplayer, I do like the look of that case. Doesn't look big and heavy like the Bach ones

If memory serves me right, there was a thread about some Olds trumpet not fitting in normal hard case. See if it fit in the case, you have the Conn in.

jondrowjf, that's interesting. I hadn't thought of that. I guess its because of the valve casing being at a different position to my other trumpet.

Well that was quick. A big shout out to Clay at Centex who I reached out to and he came up with the goods. Super easy to deal with.

Search the internet for the period correct case , then go to eBay or SGW and find your case for a decent price. I often buy a trumpet on SGW just for the case or mouthpiece(s). I have acquired a lot of nice mouthpieces this way (Bach Mount Vernons, Jet-Tones and vintage Martins)

I recently sold an LA Olds Ambassador which I mailed to the buyer in a nice Bach Strad case. It fit great. I love the look and feel of nice leather gig bags too for travelling on planes as a carry on.

Hi guys, as mentioned above Clay at Centex was able to help me out very quickly with the correct case for my ‘46 Olds. Awesome communication and helpful even with me on the other side of the globe. My new-to-me Super Recording looks right at home in a case that’s also got that lovely used patina, and bo smell thankfully!

Congratz on your new case! Would love to see some pictures.

Also, this may not be of use to you, but I recently came across this eBay auction for replica Olds case badges. Might be worth checking out to make the case match even more (provided it doesn't already have an Olds emblem of course).

That looks like a very nicely done repro badge. I don't think it was on the type of case I have. I'll post pictures soon when I get a chance.

Here you go. I love the worn travel stickers on it. A couple of miltary ones which is apt for posting on Veterans Day. Lifton made a cool case! Latches have some serious spring to them and work amazingly. Just need to sort the post for the latch in the mouthpiece compartment as the latch is there but nothing for it to hook on. Anyone got a close up of this? Don't want the mouthpieces to land on the trumpet when I open it!
