|
|
The horn is an Inderbinen Big Bell.
7.8 inch bell with a standard trumpet body.
Searching for a carry-on bag/case for this instrument. I can't find one any where. Especially ones that fit the standard carry-on size. Any custom gig bag shops you know who can help?
Thank you. _________________ Delbert Anderson | Artist/Educator

Yes! So how does it feel to play a trumpet with a small tuba bell?! Is it this one?

As for possible cases, you may have to buy a Pelican, or the like, and customize it yourself. There are some companies that do that for you (but they may need the horn! Ha!). Or you could go with a GARD...

Hi,
I think the pelican would not work (at least the 1535 which is the one that fits as carry on).
I think you could use a Reunion Blues triple bag. It has a velcro inside that allows for you to move one side of the internal divider and you could make some more room in the middle socket. I do this with a 5.2 inches bell trumpet and basically use it as a single trumpet bag + mutes (I could fit two)
regards.

Why not call Inderbinen and ask them? Or ia that too simple? _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

Protec website says it fits up to 7.5" bell diameter.

Flugels are generally shorter than trumpets, right? Might the Pro Tec be too short? _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet

Actually a ProTec marching mellophone case might work.

If you called them, they might see if a regular trumpet would fit in the case. If it was long enough then you have the bell size covered. |

Why not get a screw ring on that? Horns have used them for years and trombones are getting them now. _________________ Never confuse beauty with things that put your mind at ease. - Charles E. Ives |

This is a good question. With all of the seemingly minor things people discuss on here that affect the way a trumpet plays, like bell annealing or cryogenic treatment, cutting the bell, soldering on two rings and adding a mechanical connection, would almost certainly change how the trumpet plays.
Maybe better, maybe worse, but finding out it is worse after spending time and money to have the work done is not something I would chance.

I played horn professionally for several years (comeback to trumpet this year). I never had a screw bell, but many people did. Some reported no change, or not one that was meaningful. Other seemed to think that it centered the core of the sound.
Yes, there will be a change in sound, but so also there is with other things. The screw bell is more permanent that a lead pipe, or mouthpiece. But it is something to consider. _________________ Never confuse beauty with things that put your mind at ease. - Charles E. Ives |

Adding that much weight will change the way the horn plays considerably.
It would also make a front heavy trumpet even more front heavy. |
Definitely changes the feel IMO. I don't know if it'd make it considerably heavier (depending on what the ring was made of). The problem would be getting one fabricated for that instrument, and it's permanent. Proceed with caution. |

OP: check out the original ProTec double case. Itis quite large in terms of the bells it will accommodate... And the “price is right” (won’t cost you an arm and a leg), while offering good protection . _________________ do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God |

That might work. Had one too and it's a very nice and solid case, though I ended up selling it because it's pretty bulky when you're only bringing a single trumpet most of the time. |
