Hello,
I do not have the original leadpipe for my Selmer G piccolo. I have to have it made so can anyone that owns this pic tells me how long it is?
Many thanks. _________________ S’il n’en reste qu’un je serai celui là (Victor Hugo)

The person who makes the pipe will start be measuring the length inside the outer slide. That will give you a minimum length for a new inner slide. Have it made longer in case it will play in tune slightly extended. Longer pipes are usually better.
Good luck, I've never seen that particular model.

Thanks.
Currently, I can only play my G pic with the A leadpipe of my Selmer Bb/A pic and I am not happy with the result for exactly the reason you give regarding length and intonation. _________________ S’il n’en reste qu’un je serai celui là (Victor Hugo)

So it won't take much to find the optimum, slightly shorter length for a G pipe. It's good to start too long, as you can always shorten it. If you could find another A pipe, it would be simple to shorten it. _________________ "Strive for tone." -John Coppola

Yourbrass: A G leadpipe sorter than an A leadpipe? I would think it is the opposite…
Manuel: I am in relationship with Mark. I need to tell him the length of the original Selmer lp so my post!
He made for me a great Bb lp for my Bb/A Selmer pic. _________________ S’il n’en reste qu’un je serai celui là (Victor Hugo)

Selmer G leadpipe,
Overall length 157mm,
Outside length of receiver 45mm,
Depth of taper 31.1mm,
OD of parallel tube 11.45mm,
Bore at end 10.03mm.
There is a step at the end of the receiver taper, I will have to make more measurements if you require them.
Regards, Stuart. |

Stumac,
Many thanks. Great and interesting because the A lp is only 13,5 cm.
I will send the data to Mark. I hope it should enough for him to make the lp.

Of course you are correct. When you get the new pipe made, let us know how it works versus the A pipe. _________________ "Strive for tone." -John Coppola
