Like Goby said, it is a Super Recording. And worth much more than $1600 IMO. _________________ Music is a fire in your belly, fighting to get out. You'd better put a horn in the way before someone gets hurt. |

Thank you for pointing out that "rib" brace, Lionel! I never paid much attention to that feature of the 40's Handcraft. Very interesting! |
You're welcome. That's a future experiment for me, I have a horn that needs rebuilding and I'm going to try that feature.
Before WWII, that sort of brace was common, it was a reinforcement for the crook. But it also had other effects, possibly... _________________ "Strive for tone." -John Coppola

Oh, I see. The top view shows the staggered valves.
Interestingly, my YBB-104 student tuba has exactly the same staggering of the valves. |

Those are some very nice-looking vintage horns. Even if the buyer overpaid, I hope they enjoy the instrument. _________________ Please join me as well at:

Did the earlier Super Recordings have one less brace on the third valve slide?

Oh man!! I love Selmer Paris trumpets. I was so sad when they discontinued them. _________________ Please join me as well at:
