I have a Bach standard weight body with all slides, valves and leadpipe no bell. It is in silver plate except the leadpipe and tuning slide. serial number 2xxxxx. It has lots of compression in great condition. What is a fair price for it?

I'm assuming this is NOT a tunable bell horn. If it has a tuning slide...then I would say it's probably worth 1,000 bucks minus what a bell would cost to purchase and have installed.

I am only guessing but if it's a nice horn..maybe it's worth 500 bucks right now.

Why is there no bell? 2xxxxx puts the horn 1981-1985. How do you know it has great compression on the valves

A partial horn is tough to judge the worth since it can't be played.

I took the bell off a few days ago to put on another horn. A friend of mine had been using the horn for a while. It played great!

I've certainly never seen just the body and slides for sale on Ebay. Considering that one needs to purchase a bell for it and convert it &/or install it, that would require a lot of extra time and money to get accomplished. I would estimate around $350 - $400 the way you described it.

Finding the right bell is harder than finding a good body.
