For those of you with a blackburn leadpipe on your bach 37, how did it change the sound? is it more of a jazz or orchestral sound? did it make your sound brighter/darker? What about the rounded tuning crook? I am really just interested to see if people are using the modified horn as a jazz or orchestral/wind ensemble horn.... Thanks!

Depends on the pipe but it usually darkens the sound.. I had a Blackburn 15L that was on a Modified Bach that worked well in both Classical & Jazz ( 2nd trumpet) I now have a 19-348 with an OLD Blackburn tuning slide that is on a Bach 72.. It's dark but can take all the air you can give it.. Tuning on ALL the Blackburn slides is Excellent..

I'm a Huge fan of Blackburn & wold have one of everyhorn he makes if I won the lottery

I have a Blackburn leadpipe and I think it sounds much better than the stock 25. Then intonation, blow and tone makes it like having a new horn. I could play any style on this setup. I am using a standard tuning slide, but would like to buy a rounded one. I have heard that the rounded tuning slide is better.

Sorry about the last blank post.

I have just ordered some leadpipes from Blackburn to try on my Bach 72*. Does the leadpipe make a huge difference, or do you need to get the rounded Blackburn tuning slide in order to take full advantage?

dacman,
I've been trying a GREAT lacquered Bach 72 lightweight. Please put up a post on how your horn reacts to the different Blackburn pipes that you're getting. I, for one, would be VERY interested in your observations!

I should be getting three leadpipes in the mail this week. Cliff gives you two weeks to try them out, so after I figure out which one I like best, I will post a review of my findings.
