|
|
Hey all, I wanted to announce the release of my latest book on qPress: The Artistry and Language of Kevin Dean
I'm super excited about this book because I think it is a first of its kind in that it comes with MP3's of all the originally recorded solos! The book contains 28 transcriptions AND comes with the 28 corresponding MP3's of the original solo recordings! So if you dig Kevin Dean but happen to not have all of his albums, no worries, we've got you covered! I personally think just the 28 MP3's of Kevin Dean BADNESS is worth the price of the book. Also, almost every solo in the book is over chord progressions to the jazz standards that all of us play regularly. So everyone can get a lot out of this book because the solos directly relate to our common repertoire.
This book was done in coordination with Dean over the course of about a year. He gave me permission to use all of his recordings and he personally edited and approved all of the transcriptions and chord changes in the book to ensure accuracy. If you aren't hip to Kevin Dean then you are missing out on one of the best straight ahead players on the planet.
I'll post a screenshot below of the Table of Contents so anyone who is interested can check out which tunes are covered in the book. I hope you guys dig this as much as I did making it!
Here is the link where you can purchase the book if you're interested: www.qpress.ca/product/the-artistry-and-language-of-kevin-dean-with-audio/

I was fortunate to play a couple of informal gigs with Kevin Dean about 2 or 3 years ago (I'm a drummer who plays trumpet), and it was a thrill and a half to play with him to say the least! Obviously an amazing musician, but a great guy as well. Really hope I get to share the bandstand with him again one day. |
