Hello, fellow trumpet players!
I would like to introduce my new mute designs to you all and provide a place for you to post questions etc. I am quite proud of these products and am super excited to share them with you!
It is common to fine-tune a mute by shaving down the corks, allowing the mute to sit further in the bell. I never liked this because once altered, the corks can not be returned to their prior state unless you affix new corks or glue new material to the top of the altered corks. If you have horns with different bell flares, the mute may not be satisfactory on all your horns once customized to one particular bell flare. My system allows you to remove the corks and install thicker or thinner corks by simply sliding the corks off and sliding on a different size. The cork can also be replaced by removing the adhesive-backed cork material and applying new cork (I supply you with replacement cork pads along with the mute). You will be amazed by the change in response when experimenting with the different cork sizes!
My mutes are 3D printed using a recycled base material for all of the rigid portions. The cork pads are laser cut, and the mute make, model, and batch number are laser engraved onto the mute body. All post-processing is done by hand.
The cup mutes disassemble and can be used as a cup mute, straight mute, and plunger. If you do a lot of plunger work I highly recommend getting the version with the flexible cup. It really works great!
How do they sound? Everyone I've sent them to loves them, including Jens Lindemann. I do have some videos up on my Facebook page (S-Mute), and Instagram (the.s.mute). More videos coming soon.
-The Symphonic Straight Mute and the Multifunction Mute feature the removable cork system.
-The Essential Mute line has fixed corks but retains all the other features, these are available as a straight mute, a cup mute, and a piccolo trumpet mute.
I take pride in my work and think you will be impressed when you try these mutes out. I am so confident in these mutes that I will back them 100%. If you don't like it send it back for a refund.
I am now shipping in the USA and Canada. Ill likely begin shipping to the UK and EU over the summer.
Finally, I would like to offer the trumpetherald membership an additional discount, simply reply to this thread “I'm gonna try the S-Mute!” and I’ll PM with a discount code. With a qualified purchase, you will also receive a prototype or production error mute FREE. These are mostly cosmetic flaws or earlier designs but they still play well.

I'm gonna try the S-Mute, was looking for a cup mute this is perfect timing. Of all the variations of the multifunction mute (magnetic attachments) which would you recommend? Thanks!
Hey everyone, If you go to purchase be sure to use the discount code I give you. For some reason, shopify will not allow you to simultaneously use the discount code AND the free prototype/prod error mute promotion. If your order is above the threshold I will throw in the free mute no need to add that to cart. _________________ Dr. Nathan Sobieralski

Thank you all very much for your interest in my mutes! I have plenty of prototype/production errors to go around, and ill throw them in even if the discount brings your total under the threshold.
Playtesting a multifunction mute, threaded interface, flexible cup, and size 1 corks. These blue mutes were special ordered as a matched set.

I purchased an S-Mute Multi-Function with the magnetic flexible cup and have been very happy with the results so far. I have two Bb trumpets and one has a larger bell and throat. The interchangeable corks allow the mute to work well with both; I had previously adjusted a set of mutes just for the big bell horn.
The mute sounds great in both straight and cup configuration and plays well in tune with the appropriate corks. I particularly like the magnetic cup attachment, as it allows you to switch from straight to cup without removing the mute. The magnets are quite strong; there is little to no chance it would ever be accidentally dislodged. As I took advantage of the introductory offer, I received an additional B-stock Multi-Function with the threaded attachment; while this works well, I personally prefer the magnetic version.
Also, the design of the flexible cup attachment works much better than other removable cups; say the ubiquitous Denis Wick or the Soulo. The closed end and flexible cup accurately replicates a traditional rubber plunger.
Shipping was very quick and the mutes were well-packed. I did order an additional set of cork pads.
I look forward to using this mute a lot. Thanks for a wonderful option for trumpet players with multiple horns!!!

Everyone, I am super humbled by the response so far. Thank you all!
I have a new innovation coming soon that will blow your mind. It is, I think, a very useful device that works in tandem with my quick change cork system. I will be giving this away FREE to early adopters on their next purchase. The early adopter cutoff will be 5/29/2022, anyone who purchases before this cutoff date will be eligible.
Stay tuned to this thread to learn more about this new innovation. _________________ Dr. Nathan Sobieralski

The magnetic system looks to be quick and versatile. And now I will have a plunger, too. Great design. _________________ Matt Finley https://mattfinley.bandcamp.com/releases
