Who are the players on the extreme left and right? I believe the 3 in the middle from left to right are Maynard, Al Hirt (for sure) and Bud Brisbios.
Thanks,
Ron

I don't think that's Maynard second from left. As for the person on the extreme right, all I can say is, "Gee, I didn't know Dick Nixon played trumpet!" _________________ "He that plays the King shall be welcome . . . " (Hamlet Act II, Scene 2, Line 1416)

Stop the political comments. Oh, and the guy in the middle looks like Ulysses S. Grant.
I agree that the second from the left doesn't look exactly like Maynard.

I hope you're kidding; I don't think my wry observation implies any political opinion one way or the other.
Actually, the guy in the middle is a dead ringer for actor Brad Dexter (if Brad Dexter wore a beard). _________________ "He that plays the King shall be welcome . . . " (Hamlet Act II, Scene 2, Line 1416)

Of course, nothing you said was political. I was joking. (Although re-reading my reply, I admit it could be mistaken as sarcasm. But that was not my intention.)
I thought your reply was funny. And after looking at the picture, with his retro tie and beard, I added my own "political comment" about Alt Hirt looking like President Grant.

Good (whew)! I edited my last post and added a rejoinder about the guy in the middle -- see if you agree. _________________ "He that plays the King shall be welcome . . . " (Hamlet Act II, Scene 2, Line 1416)

I am dating myself, but the guy on the right has a chin, nose and forehead that really does resemble Nixon!! _________________ Bach190ML43

Well, everyone knows that Dick Nixon was a high not specialist but I thought that Ulysses Grant was a cornet man only............................. _________________ "There are two sides to a trumpeter's personality,

I think Maynard was a much bigger man than the chap shown. But there are similarities.

PC aside, harrumph, when Maynard was the same age as Al Hir, in this photo, I believe he would have had dark hair. Could that be Jack Sheldon on the far left? _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

I believe the trumpeter on the far right is Leon Merian. If Ed Kennedy is seeing this post he can probably verify. |

Far left: maybe Buddy Childers? Far right: could that be Timofie Dokshizer? |

Thanks,

I've seen this picture before. I don't remember if the players names were listed.
Curious to know if anyone has ever seen any video where Bud Brisbois is playing? Everything I've found on Youtube is just audio.

Must be where I saw it. Still no clue who the other guys are. Al looks pretty slim in this pic. I met him when he was about 50. He was a really big man. His hands were enormous. Prett cool guy as well. I called out to him and he replied, hey, how ya doin? Walked over and shook my hand. He had that thick Louisiana drawl. |
