BRITTEN Fanfare for St. Edmundsbury
https://youtu.be/cChkU5uDFH4
Britten’s Fanfare for St. Edmundsbury is a piece I’ve performed many times with many different trumpet players through the years.
It is always fun for the listener when the performers try to get the greatest distance between themselves - BUT - that also creates the biggest challenge for the performers - which is to keep the piece from falling apart because of the distance when all three players are playing at the same time.
Lucky for me - the biggest challenge in recording each part was getting a clean take without cars driving by or car alarms going off when someone locked or unlocked their doors.
This was recorded without edits over the course of three nights in my basement garage in the early days of the pandemic in May 2020. This was my second attempt at a multi-trumpet video and I hope I captured what this piece might sound like if it were performed in a large cathedral.
Thank you for taking a listen and I hope you enjoy!

Bravo. Valiant attempt to create a cathedral effect in lockdown. And such a clever piece of music |

Hi kehaulani- this was written for modern trumpets, however, natural trumpets could play this. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fanfare_for_St_Edmundsbury
