I was just perusing a thread and noticed that dbacon had edited his posts in the trumpet trader thread so they now read “DB”.
Doing a little digging it appears many, if not all, of his posts on the forum have been similarly edited.
It is not my business but, if the account wasn’t hacked, something significant must have annoyed dbacon to spend the time changing 8592 posts. I know I wouldn’t spend the time. |

It's kind'a weird. I don't think anyone would remove that many posts singly and the only one able to do that with one fell swoop would be one who has access to the Software platform - meaning, I guess, the owner?
Speculation:
dBacon withdrew his membership and asked the owner to sweep all his posts.
dBacon was hacked but, if so, why just him?

There might be a programmatic way to do it besides being the owner. Kind of like using global search and replace in a text editor. |

It's unlikely to be done by a program given that it has been done over the course of days. A computer program or hack would've made the changes a lot faster. My guess is the user chose to withdraw from the forums, and for some reason decided that his posts needed to be removed as well.

That could've been my doing I'm afraid. I've tried to suggest (in a what I thought was a friendly and helpful manner) him to improve his post quality (or at least reduce the quantity a bit) both directly and through PM's. He pretty much ignored me. Admittedly, I was getting a little annoyed having to scroll though dozens of his copy/paste spam posts everytime I visited, so I got a little snarky with my public replies to them, about right before he started redacting his posts.
Fwiw, I don't want him (or anyone) gone from TH. But it really annoyed me how little effort he put into the things he copied (no source crediting or checking, no text formatting, rarely giving context or engaging in discussions about what he posted...he didn't even remove the editorial comments from the original source when copy/pasting). That's just really bad academic form, and I took offense to that, sorry.
EDIT: he didn't redact all his posts (yet) as of now, it's mostly the oldest ones and about 500 or so of the most recent ones. _________________ 1975 Olds Recording trumpet

I now remember a very recent kerfuffle regarding Dave’s posts.
For some reason my opinion on his posts prior to reading the most recent was high. But after reading the more recent posts I agree with some of those who find the posts excessive and a waste.
I also didn’t connect up the recent posts with the username nor could I read the deleted pists. Hence my curiosity.
Nuff said. |

It's personal - leave it alone. _________________ Most Important Note ? - the next one !
KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'. |

While I certainly agree with the “leave it alone”, especially after figuring out what happened, I disagree that it is personal with it all unfolding on a very public forum. |

Hopefully the guy in question sooner or later will arrive at the insight that we didn´t want him personal evil. It was by the act of spamming thereby obscuring the sight of other posts we found it disturbing.
He wanted to do good; to the extent that it blocked his judgement. Hopefully he will end up in a peace of mind! _________________ Cornets: mp 143D3/ DW Ultra 1,5 C
