Hope someone can help me determine what flavor Conn I have. It looks like it might be a New Invention. The S/N 117939 indicates it may have been made in 1911.
I'd like also like to know if that S/N puts it before or after the fire.
Thanks!

That was a small bore Circus I did own and sold. The horn in the photo I posted is a different one. _________________ Jim Hatfield

Can you confirm the patent number? It looks like 21907 which is for a steam engine. _________________ Richard

The only patent info on the horn is April 1, 1907.
I emailed Christine Derksen hoping she can tell me more. _________________ Jim Hatfield

Based on everything I've been able to learn it's a New Wonder made in 1911 and appears to be a 1 1/2 bore. I don't have a micrometer but the second slide is virtually identical to an Olds Ambassador I have and it's .460.
Plays great - sweet and mellow - but I have a 1980s Conn long cornet that has a perfect sound for Dixie so the New Wonder is going on the block.
Just put it on eBay for a big number hoping there's a player/collector out there that hasn't had his savings trashed yet.

Jim,
I am pretty sure that your horn is a Perfected Wonder, based on the tubing between the valves.

Thanks! Those early horns can be confusing. _________________ Jim Hatfield

These get so tricky. The serial number charts would have us believe this is a Circus Bore. But those charts never accurately account for the fire. I would agree, this is pre-fire, and thus a Perfected Wonder, not a New Invention Circus Bore. _________________ Ron Berndt
