Hi, I'm going to get back into playing trumpet after a 12 year "break" and I'm looking into instruments. I'm currently leaning towards a Getzen 700S that I saw for a pretty good deal at Chuck Levins. Haven't played it yet, but is there anything that is a common problem on this instrument that I should look for? Any tips / suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Rich

I played a 700s recently. It seemed like a real nice open horn for the money,.

What kInd of price did you see on it?

I think I got a quote on a 900s for like $950.I think the bell on the 900s is on peice if I am not mistaken.Might be worth the extra $300 or so.

I stopped by Chuck Levin's on the way home and bought a 700S. It was $625.

Unfortunately my salesperson had me try it and I realized that 12 years of inactivity equals a terrible, terrible embrochure. It's not a bad instrument at all and will serve my "recovery" well so that I can go back and be more selective for my next purchase. Meanwhile I think I'll have fun with the 700S.

I was in the same boat as you as far as chops are concerned.

What helped me out a bunch was doing a bunch of lip slurs and the 20 min G exercise.

I think you will get a lot of mileage out of the 700s.When your ready to upgrade keep my contact info.I would love to have that as a back up horn.

Thanks camel lips. Just noticed there was a comeback player forum also. Probably should have posted there. Sorry if I violated board etiquette.
