Got all but the 2 main tuning slides unstuck, but it plays beautifully and is right on key with the slide where it is. I've tried all the way up to heating the outer part of the tubes to no avail to move them, guess I'll have to get more aggressive at some point. _________________ Olds Super('54)

Pretty horn - no, you don't want to get aggressive if you want it to stay pretty. Try either PB Blaster or Kroil penetrating oil. If you try PB blaster use it outside and don't breathe it - very acrid stuff but it works. Whatever you use try to get it to the stuck slides from both sides.
If all else fails take it to a reputable tech who has purpose-designed tools and tricks to deal with this kind of thing. _________________ Getzen Eterna Severinsen

Congrats on your horn. H.n. White made some pretty amazing King horns. I am very fond of King horns through the ages. I hope she treats you well. _________________ Current horns

Does your regular mouthpiece fit? _________________ Technology alone is a poor substitute for experience. (Richard Sachs) |

Yeah, that's my biggest fear, so I am wary, because it had only 1 small dent anywhere on the horn, which is amazing for it's age. Still hard to believe I got it for $140 from a music shop that had it listed as non-functional, was only missing the springs. It hadn't been cleaned in quite a while though bc the green gunk that came out of it was disgusting. Must've been sitting in the case for years why it had virtually no damage. Been using a WD40 Specialist penetrator, but not doing it. Even filled the tube with it and let it sit. I think i will get some PB blaster, I've always found that it and liquid wrench work best, 1st time trying this wd40 stuff _________________ Olds Super('54)

Yes, modern ones fit fine. I've only run into one horn that had a smaller mouthpiece receiver. _________________ Olds Super('54)
