So the BrassClub just listed several horns in the Marketplace here at TH.
Within 2 hours they showed 2,597 views for one ad, and 4,016 for another.

I don't think so. Not sure how the erroneous views were input, but it seems every time one of their shills raves about their products (THEIR products? They don't have any) it's irritating and troublesome in the Forums.

So are these 'ads' with erroneous view counts. Give me a break from a company that can't do things honestly. I believe they are advertising here on the TH bannerline (near top of page), but they make me sick. I like the Marketplace; I buy off it, I sell off it - I really appreciate and enjoy it. And I DETEST seeing it used dishonestly.

I believe that Todd, TH’s owner, has spoken directly with the person(s) running BrassClub and that resulted in them purchasing the banner.

I have my own opinions on BrassClub which I will refrain from sharing on here. Vote with your money. Spend it if you support BC or don’t spend it if you have an issue with BC.

I also have opinions on these guys, and I am also doing likewise, voting (“nay”) with my $. I also see no problem with voicing an opinion here about it, this IS a forum, and I believe Jonathan posted this in the proper area.

I also agree with Jonathan that I REALLY dislike seeing these guys on TH. It’s of course not my decision, but if it was they would not be here. It seems to me that they are operating if not illegally, at least very near unethically.

I thought rules for sales in the market place were we had to have physical possession of the instrument. Doesn't drop shipment violate that rule?

It's likely they are using some kind of bot to get "views" on their ads. It's fairly easy and this site is too old to have any kind of prevention measures. I could probably write the same bot in a day.

Today they are posting ad copy from other companies without listing any actual items for sale. Do they have permission from each company to do this? Does this violate TH policy?

The marketplace spam is total BS and they shouldn't be allowed to do that.

Out of curiosity, I went to the Marketplace to see what it was all about. Disgusting. Don't they realize that the more they resort to this kind of stuff the less anyone will wan t to deal with them?

Commercial advertising in Marketplace should be banned or have a separate thread.

Looks to me like it’s up to the mods to determine if they’re actually violating TH policy or not, and if they are (which I would think they are), remove all their ads and posts and bounce them out of here. And simply locking threads because conversations have become snarky isn’t adequate.

Almost as annoying as their tactics are their smug, smart *** replies to criticisms here. These guys need to go, they are the last thing this site, which IMO has declined in the last 16 years, needs.
