|
|
Hi all!
I’m looking for recommendations for a backup horn since my primary is having valve issues and I need to get it serviced/just have something I can play on when I need to. I have a Bach Commercial LT1901B. The horn is lacquer and ML. I’m not too specific when it comes to finish or brand so anything is good for.
I primarily play commercial music. I’m in a steady wedding band and have started regularly subbing on broadway. I have a Bach 37 that I use for my more “legit” work.
I intend on heading to Landress or Dillons to try horns but having a place to start in terms of specifications would be cool, so here I am.
Thanks in advance! _________________ @jganci.trumpet |

As someone who has both the Schilke B1 and an X3 and who currently plays a B3 on a daily basis, I wouldn't recommend the B1 or X3 as a backup for your Bach Commercial even though they are great horns in their own right. I would think a Schilke B2 or an Adams A5 would be a good alternative. If a large bore is not a problem, than you might want to consider a Schilke B3 (.463 bore) or an original King Silver Flair (.462 bore). |

A Schilke B2 comes reasonably close. The Schilke i33 is also worth considering. Similar sound but more defined slots. |

My #1 trumpet is a LB Bach Commercial, closely followed by my Selmer Claude Gordon, which I find to be quite similar to the Bach. The Selmer is in the Marketplace. |

Wasn't the Lynnzhorn designed originally to be a low cost alternative to the Bach Commercial ? |

Kinda similar but kinda different. Definitely pulls off commercial and won’t break the bank. _________________ Michael | Owner

Well, since you bring that up...
