Hey Y'all!

Who out there knows anything about a former ATL-based trumpeter named Eddie Davis?

I've only heard the stories... The dude was supposed to be the single scariest cat out there & now NO ONE can find him. Apparently, he tended to come & go sort of unpredictably -- a touch disfunctional, when it came to day-to-day living...

But, rumor has it that he would scare the CRAP out of anyone he was up against. This includes ALL of the usual guys that you can't imagine anyone scaring...

So, who out there knows / knew him? And is all of this true? I want to HEAR this cat!
Ken

Very old thread but I was just watching a video of The Crusaders at the Newport Jazz Festival and it features a cat named Eddie Davis on trumpet. Not sure if it is the man referred to 10 years ago but when I tried looking up Eddie Davis I couldn't find anything out about him except this one old post here.
Here's the link to the concert.

Anyone know him? Anyway I enjoyed the concert and thought I'd share.

I didn't know him either. I found this where he is playing with Grant Reed and Bill Anschell:

His playing is incredible here.

While looking for this, I also ran across some amazing footage of Freddie Hubbard playing All of Me in a dixieland club in Hungary in 1987 with, among others, a banjo player called Eddy Davis.

Freddie looks like he is having a lot of fun!

Thanks for posting those links. Eddy Davis the banjo player, Eddie Davis the trumpeter not to be confused with Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis the saxophonist.
Eddie Davis the trumpeter does kind of remind me a little of Freddie Hubbard too, from the little I've heard. But Freddie in those Benko Dixeland Band clips was killin it for sure. And how about Mike Vax? He was burnin too. Great stuff. They all looked like they were having a lot of fun.

Re-re-activating an almost historic thread: presuming this the Eddie Davis everyone is talking about - just came across this by accident. Some impressive playing on the trumpet side.
