What is that supposed to mean?
The emoticon is to show sorrow at her passing and the clip of one of her poignant compositions. Did I miss something? _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

While we generally add emojis to posted text to convey meaning or mood, you've gotta be careful to pick one that really conveys what you're thinking.
translates to "roll" meaning, I believe, an eye roll:
Face with Rolling Eyes
As with the gesture of an eye-roll, commonly conveys moderate disdain, disapproval, frustration, or boredom. Tone varies, including playful, sassy, resentful, and sarcastic, as if saying Yeah, whatever.
I think you really meant or _________________ Getzen Eterna 700, Eterna 800

Her music made Lew Soloff play his best solos … Tijuana Traffic, National Anthem, Medley: Exaltation / Religios Experience/ Major, Blues in 12 Bars ao … and all the great playing with Charlie Haden and the LMO … one of my favorite artists. Sad news! _________________ Van Laar OIRAM light I

Lew always sounded great. He and Carla are probably jamming right now. Met him a few times. A real unique individual. A teacher friend of mine had Lew as a guest soloist years ago. I referred to him as a loveable oddball. My friend agreed. I know he was real close to Jon Faddis. I've met Jon and he's quite eccentric. Two peas in a pod.
I gather Carla was a bit out there as well. No wonder they played so well together.
She will be missed. |

Lew always sounded great, for sure, but when you see some of the live concerts with Carla, he is "home"! Same kind of humor all the way! My kind of music. Those two jamming right now ... makes me smile! _________________ Van Laar OIRAM light I

I've seen a few on Youtube as well as some with Gil Evans. Lew could play anything.
A few years ago Steve Katz was performing solo at an art gallery in Westport, Ct. Wonderful finger style guitarist.
He mentioned sarcastically that no one request he play Spinning Wheel. Someone asked why and he replied, I hate that F#####g song. When I read the book, it was obvious that he really disliked David Clayton-Thomas as well. DCT wrote Spinning Wheel. I met DCT once and he came off as a lecherous
old man.
He had an autobiography for sale and was autographing copies. I mentioned that Lew's solo on Spinning Wheel was a benchmark solo for us trumpeters. He got real quiet for a moment and said, Lew was one of my dearest friends and I really miss him. Like Carla, Lew was one of a kind. |
