It appears that Woodwinds And Brasswinds is having a "closeout" on a Bach Strad 180S37 with a #43 lead pipe for $1499 with free shipping and 2 months no interest.
My question - Ebay MINT or near new horns are selling for not much less than that. Would it be worth the extra 200 or 300 bucks to purchase the NEW one from WWBW?
Is 1499 a good price for that Bach with the lead pipe?

I wouldn't even consider a Bach without a leadpipe.
Seriously, the price is good, particularly considering free shipping and no sales tax (depending on where you are). Getting a new horn you'll be certain it's "mint." Ebayers often seem ignorant of what "mint" means, it means "as new" with absolutely no wear; could be sold "as new" if I were an authorized dealer and it hadn't been sold before. Despite that clear meaning, some "mint" horns on Ebay will have patina, pings and imperfections.
Unless you're planning to resell in a few weeks, I'd spend $200 more and get the new horn with full dealer support.

I'd have to agree with Dave. Just make sure you check out WWBW return policy in case the horn they send you is a dog. Buying a horn through the mail is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're gonna git _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. |

Though that's a fair price for a new Strad, there is no way of knowing if it's a good deal until you get your hands on it. You'll then have to determine how you feel it plays, and more importantly, get some good ears out front to evaluate how it sounds. Unfortunately, consistency is not Bach's forte. So if you had it to compare to used Bachs in good condition, it's anyones guess which horns would be the better values. But, you do have to start somewhere and generally speaking, a horn in mint condition will resell easier than a horn with obvious use, if you do have to pass it along. Best regards, Kyle |

I have heard both on TH and outside that WWBW often carries 'b-stock' and one should be very careful in buying through the mail. _________________ Earl

$1499 is their normal sale price in those horns.
Personally, we sell new Bach Strads in silver at $1480.00 brand new and am an authorized dealer as well.

Hey there Kesslermusic!
I noticed you carry Sterling Silver Bach Strads. By any chance, do you have one with a reversed leadpipe and sterling 37 bell?
Also, you are a B&S dealer ... do you have any sterling bell B&S trumpets in stock? How much are those?
Thanks, _________________ Bb - Yamaha Xeno 8335RGS

Dont have the Reverse Leadpipe Bach 18037R in stock. I only keep sterling bell horns in standard leadpipes (I also have the Conn 1BS in lacquer and Satin Lacquer).
Have only sold 1 B&S Sterling bell ever. Not too many requests. I only keep the standard B&S models in brass bells in stock. Can order them all though. I cant list B&S price here so I have e-mailed you the price. |

I paid like 1300 for my strad at pro winds in bloomington and i played like 8 horns before picking it. I'm not sure how great of a deal you're getting, especially since it might be a terrible player. _________________ Don't practice until you get it right, practice until you can't get it wrong.

I must have been the guy who bought Kessler Music's only B&S sterling bell horn. They gave me a good price.
WW&BW allows, I believe, a 45 day "trial" period, that is hard to beat but there may also be better horns out there and lower prices too.
I like the Conn Vintage Ones, they are awsome. I also really like Calicchios, a little more money but monster horns. Mark _________________ Calicchio Studio 2
