Is there any content online of Ryan Kisor giving an interview, masterclass, or something like that? I'd like to learn more about him and his approach and development as a player.

I don't think Ryan Kisor does a lot of interviews. I do know that both he and his brother, Justin Kisor, studied with the late Willie Thomas when they were in high school. Willie had a YouTube channel with a lot of useful information.

Wonderful player-he plays (or has played) on a Schilke S42L trumpet or Faddis model? Not sure now-He's an upstream type like Faddis, Cat Anderson & Bud Brisbois

He plays a Lotus trumpet now. I've watched and listened to a lot of his playing, everything that's on Youtube at least. I was wondering if he has any interviews, articles, masterclasses.

A buddy of mine once claimed that Ryan Kisor is the most consistent lead trumpet player in the world and that he hasn't missed a note in years. Bold claim, to say the least. I wouldn't mind learning more about him either

I first saw Ryan Kisor perform at the AFM International Convention in Nashville in 1989. AFM President Marty Emerson invited Ryan to travel to Nashville to play for the assembled delegation as a representative of the talented youth in America as he was either still in high school or recently graduated at the time. I clearly remember hearing the young Ryan Kisor playing an incredible rendition of "Joy Spring" plus other jazz standards backed by a trio led by United Kingdom musicians union president and pianist John Patrick.

I was on the AFM president's staff and we put together a staff jazz combo to entertain the convention delegates, and I'll never forget playing our tunes with Ryan Kisor sitting right in front of us studying everything we played. Haha! Ryan has earned a position as one of the top trumpeters in America and we witnessed his amazing talent back in 1989.

Wynton Marsalis said the exact same thing when I saw Jazz at Lincoln Center. He absolutely loves Kisor.

I saw Ryan Kisor in 1989, when I was 17, while at a high school jazz festival. He was a year younger than myself. Like a lot of 17 year olds, I thought I was pretty good. Then I heard Kisor.

Here's his famous Kisor warm up.

Here he is in high school:

Don't have much grasp on exactly what he's doing there, or why. Anyone know?
