I got 2 suspicious offers after I bidded on a 1950's Mt.Vernon on eBay. I never have had that before. They offered me a horn of the same quality for a low price.

Also I got a suspicious offer for a trumpet I was selling on eBay that someone would buy it out of eBay. We agreed on a price and I had a few good mails with the buyer, but I never got the money (I still have the horn). I don't see why he bothered me in the first place, I don't think he was a legimate buyer but I don't see the point for doing such offers. Someone has a clue ?

Is this a new way of ripping of people ?

People do try to save a few bucks by making offers off ebay. I have a nasty suspicion that if you mailed him pictures of the horn etc you may see you horn being offered for sale soon, perhaps with a name quite like yours.

Regards the offers thats a scam, last summer I got an offer after I lost a Mt Vernon bid, the guy said he had 10 brand new ones to pick from at a reduced price. I offered him the 1950's price since he obviously was selling through a time warp.

I hate to sound stupid but be careful! E-Bay is just something to watch out for in some instances. Use common sense when to bid and when not to.
