Hello trumpet players,

I was wondering if anyone knows of any solo pieces for unaccompanied flugelhorn, preferably LYRICALLY ORIENTED pieces. Or if there's an unaccompanied trumpet solo that would work well for flugelhorn that also works too. I have a couple ideas but I figured I might as well ask all of you! Thank you and have a great day!

Cheers,
Saúl Gutierrez

It doesn't 100% fit the bill for what you're asking for, but David Lang's Song Without Words is very minimally accompanied, lyrical, and for flugelhorn. Here it is:

I could see the Solstice Prelude by Carson Cooman working.

For transcriptions/not originally written for flugelhorn: Rachmaninoff Vocalise and Bach Partita BWV 1013 sits pretty well on flugel as well (both are on IMSLP)

Bach's cello suites transcribed for french horn by Wendell Hoss (Southern Music Cy., San Antonio TX) are very playable on flugel, most of them anyway.
And you don't quickly get bored of J.S., do you
