How do I get my triple and double tonguing to stop running together. The syllables I usually use are Tu , Ku and it’s not working for me. Any tips? |

You need to get the K tongue just as clean and defined as the T tongue. Play a slow exercise using just T tongue. Then play it using just K tongue. Then play it T K T K, and make every attack sound the same. Take as much time as it takes to get the attacks to match. You have to master it slow before you can use it fast. _________________ J. Without the the trumpet, you can practice the coordination anywhere by doing it by blowing air and tonguing. Make sure the air has defined breaks in it.
It takes time, be patient |

Slow down. I mean really slow. 80 bpm.
Keep your mind in the sound.
Sing each exercise before you play.
I find with students the problems they have with multiple tonguing are air related. _________________ Bill Bergren |
